A certificate of analysis (COA) is a lab report on one tested sample. Read it in four steps: check that the product name, strength and identifiers match what you're buying; check which lab tested it; read the cannabinoid results and their units; then see which panels were run and what each one reported. OUI posts its COAs by flavor and strength at mavbev.com/pages/coas.
Step 1: match the product and the sample
The top of the report names the product and the sample. On the example below, OUI Very Cherry 10mg THC + 10mg CBD:
| Field on the report | Value |
|---|---|
| Product | OUI - Very Cherry (10mg THC + 10mg CBD) |
| Laboratory ID | JI23013-03 |
| Description | 025I18BT |
| Sample matrix | Beverage |
| Batch unit size | 354.88 g |
| Sampled / received | Sept 23, 2025 |
| Report completed | Sept 29, 2025 |
Step 2: check the lab
The report header names the lab and its accreditation. This report is from Modern Canna (Lakeland, Florida), and its header states ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation (Accreditation #102020).
Step 3: read the cannabinoids, and the units
The potency summary is reported "as received" in two units:
- %: percent by weight of the sample.
- mg: milligrams in the 354.88 g unit tested.
The milligram figures are the ones to compare with the label.
| Result on this report | % (as received) | mg |
|---|---|---|
| Total THC | 0.00279% | 9.90 mg |
| Total CBD | 0.00287% | 10.2 mg |
| Total cannabinoids | 0.00580% | 20.6 mg |
On this report, Total THC equals the delta-9 THC result (0.00279%), and THCa is listed as <LOQ. "<LOQ" means below the lab's limit of quantification, too low to measure precisely. "ND" means non-detect.
Step 4: see which panels were run
The analysis summary lists each panel and its result. On this report, these panels were run:
| Panel | Result on this report |
|---|---|
| Potency | PASS |
| Residual solvents | PASS |
| Pesticides | PASS |
| Mycotoxins | PASS |
| Heavy metals | PASS |
| Microbials | PASS |
| Terpenes | Completed (a profile, not pass/fail) |
One report, one sample
A COA describes the sample that was tested. The report itself says its results "relate only to the products analyzed." The figures above are for this Very Cherry 10mg sample only. For any other flavor, strength or batch, open its own report and check it the same way.
